Books and coins – Mary is looking at ways to send a big book and a 30 day coin to Mia in Australia. She also will be replenishing coins as several were sent out this month to happy recipients. Steve D. wants to send coin and book to Mia in Australia. Discussion on how we keep track of expenses.

Service chair report– Michael A. reports all going smoothly with various charing and hosting responsibilities changing hands.

Website report – Herb reports website is up and running well, and people are using the website! Dan A questioned whether we need a website report.

Treasurers report – Deb B. is absent from the business meeting today, and emailed her treasurers report ahead of the meeting. Herb will post with the secretaries report. Dan A asked for a motion to accept the reports, Steve D. made the motion to accept reports Mary seconded all were in favor, past unanimously.

Old business — A discussion on limiting chair length from 12 or 13 weeks to a month at a time, Kevin D. commented it is easier to commit for a month. May help newcomers feel less daunted about taking the commitment. Brian L wants to see the step meeting stay the full course of the steps which includes the tradition of the month as well. Currently runs 15 weeks. John P. likes the way the 5:30 zoom meeting changes chair people monthly. Mary has concerns about how many volunteers will we get? Can the same person continue a following month? Terri suggested we start with the four week time for Friday beginners meeting and leave the others for now. Denice likes the one month idea across the board. Dan A recognized the increased work for the service chair position and also thinks keeps fresher energy for the chair and the fellowship to shift chair people more frequently. Molly asked for input from the service chairs, for their perspective. John D. reports it is a chore to change monthly, but the 5:30 meeting runs smoothly. The monthly rotation gives more opportunity for commitments. Fred

commented with a major change like this. It should be brought back to the group for a month or so of announcement/discussion. He also liked the idea if going to monthly rotation, keep the step meeting the way it is for the full 15 weeks. Dan A. shared he has been announcing to the group several times over the course of the month. Michael A. recognizes it will be more work and will do his best if that’s what the group decides. Jeff H commented, we haven’t had a problem with the way we do it. There are a lot of opportunities for service and it’s been going well. Terry likes the 13 week format and feels like it’s less chaotic than turnover every month. Mary commented that Early Morning Zoomer’s is the Sister group to Early Morning Risers and feels uneasy about making it more like the 5:30 happy hour online meeting. Wants to maintain our identity as our own group. Beth commented “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, As a newer member to this particular meeting, she said it feels like it flows beautifully. Many commented that either way they would continue their participation in EMZ.
