Early Morning Zoomers Business Meeting Minutes: 8/2/2026
Dan A called the Meeting to order at 8:34.
Deb opened the meeting with the serenity prayer.
Secretary’s report: Deb B (covering for Lisa U) reported that the July minutes have been posted on our website for all to review.
Website report: Herb welcomed any feedback about the website and reported the site gets over 3,000 visits a day.
Books and Coins: Mary reported no requests for books or coins this month. It was suggested that it might help to reach out to new group members to offer them a Big Book and/or coin.
Grapevine report: Darlene delivered copies to BH Care in Branford, a mental health agency. A suggestion was made for another drop-off option: Branford Counseling.
GSR report: Darlene will contact Siobhan regarding her new role as alternate GSR. Darlene announced a 9/13 picnic sponsored by District 19 at Foote Park. She also shared that our donations to the District help pay for advertisements on placements at the Branford Diner, as well as for new AA meeting schedules.
Service Chair report: Michael A reported there were 2 new chairs this month and an upcoming replacement for the Wed chair position. Darlene’s service with the Grapevine is up for replacement next month. Michael will announce this opening in random meetings as well as talk to members individually.
Treasurers report:
Deb B. presented the July report for all to view. Beginning July balance was $421.93, and available balance at end of July was $408.93. Deb indicated this is the 3rd quarter for donations. The last donations made in April were to the GSO 40%, Area 40%, and District 20%. Today we need to decide what distribution for this quarter. Deb also raised the question about this group’s usual donation to the summer picnic (scheduled for today, 8/2 at Jacob’s Beach). These items will be addressed.
Dan A. made a motion to accept all the above reports. The motion was seconded by Mary and passed unanimously.
Old Business:
Motion 1: Herb made a motion that $400.00 be distributed in the same percentages as last quarter: GSO 40%; Area 40%; District 20%. Mary seconded the motion. Dan A commented that he prefers that a larger percentage go to the District.
Motion passed with 8 in favor, 1 nay, and 0 abstention.
Motion 2: Molly made a motion that we donate $300.00 for the EMR Annual summer picnic for today. Mary seconded it. The motion passed 9 yays, 1 abstention.
Herb made a motion to modify his Motion 1 from $400.00 to $100.00 given the outcome of Motion 2 passing. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
